So, what do I read??

I read a considerable amount. Both for research, and for enjoyment.

Research books will kick me in the gut and tear my heart out, so I need my 'enjoyment' books to be GOOD.

Good, and rollercoaster-y.

So, in no particular order, these are some of the latest books I've read...

A Flight of Arrows.

Holy flaming arrows!!!

A Flight of Arrows is the sequel to the incredible The Wood's Edge. And lemme tell ya, I want to be Lori Benton's proof reader!! I LOVE her work.

Hearts are divided. Loyalties will be tested. The fates of two families hang in the balance.Twenty years ago, during the devastating fall of Fort William Henry in 1757, a young Redcoat named Reginald Aubrey stole a new-born boy--the lighter-skinned of Oneida twins--and raised him as his own.No one connected to Reginald escaped unscathed from this crime. Not his adopted daughter Anna. Not Stone Thrower, the Native American father determined to get his son back. Not Two Hawks, William's twin brother separated since birth, living in the shadow of his absence and hoping to build a future with Anna. Nor Lydia, who longs for Reginald to be free from his self-imposed emotional prison and embrace God's forgiveness--and her love. Now William, whose identity has been shattered after discovering the truth of his birth, hides in the ranks of an increasingly aggressive British army. The Redcoats prepare to attack frontier New York, and the Continentals, aided by Two Hawks and the Oneida warriors, rally to defend it. As the Revolutionary War penetrates the Mohawk Valley, two families separated by culture but united by love and faith must find a way to reclaim the son marching toward them in the ranks of their enemies.

Cynthia Ruchti:

Cynthia should have called this book "and now I'll make you cry...or laugh...okay, CRY...nope...laugh..."

What to do when your world is turned upside down, only everything looks the same. And sounds the same. But you can't make YOU the same as you were when you were happy???

And?? If you know me in my real life, you'll recognize something about Lucy.

Lucy and Charlie Tuttle agree on one thing: they’re committed to each other for life. Trouble is, neither of them expected life to look like this. Charlie retired early, but Lucy is devoted to a long-term career…until the day she has no choice.

Forced to retire from her position as music educator in a small Midwestern K-8 school, Lucy can only watch helplessly as the program her father started years ago disintegrates before her eyes. As the music fades and a chasm separates her form the passion of her heart, Lucy wonders if her faith’s song has gone silent, too. The musical score of her life seems to be missing all the notes.

When a simple misstep threatens to silence Lucy forever, a young boy and his soundless mother change the way she sees—and hears—everything.

Five siblings, a neighbour who's more like a brother, and one very dark secret...and Lynnie knows something, but she can't remember what that something is.

Now I'll never look at art the same. "There's a secret in this painting, I just know it!!

Well done, Cathy!!

After her mother’s death twelve years ago, Lynette Carlisle watched her close-knit family unravel. One by one, her four older siblings left their Nantucket home and never returned. All seem to blame their father for their mother’s death, but nobody will talk about that tragic day. And Lynette’s memory only speaks through nightmares.

Then Nicholas Cooper returns to Nantucket, bringing the past with him. Once Lynette’s adolescent crush, Nick knows more about her mother’s death than he lets on. The truth could tear apart his own family—and destroy his fragile friendship with Lynette, the woman he no longer thinks of as a kid sister.

As their father’s failing health and financial concerns bring the Carlisle siblings home, secrets surface that will either restore their shattered relationships or separate the siblings forever. But pulling up anchor on the past propels them into the perfect storm, powerful enough to make them question their faith, their willingness to forgive, and the very truth of all the things they thought they knew.
