(Yes, I'm cross-posting this on Substack)
I finally resurfaced!
I knew in May that my life would be rather busy until the beginning of November. Want to know just how busy?
June -Spent a week tailoring two bridesmaid dresses for some friends.
- Spent a week in Prince Edward Island to celebrate our 35th anniversary.
Us in 1989
Us in June 2024, me squinting into the sun while my husband of 35 years keeps his shades on.
- Drove to Ontario for the memorial service of a dear friend.
- Drove to Maine for a writer’s retreat.
July -Flew to Vancouver to spend time with my dad.
-Flew from Vancouver to Winnipeg for a family wedding!
-Sewed two Christmas rag quilts for friends.
August - Drove to Ontario to attend family camp at the Ontario Camp of the Deaf for two weeks.
-Stayed with family in Toronto for a few days.
-Flew to Dallas to stay with a friend for a few days.
September - Spent a week in New Orleans sightseeing and attended a writer’s conference.
-Prepared for and celebrated another family wedding!
-Edited my current Work in Progress and the accompanying proposal so that my agent could send it to the editors who’d requested it at the writer’s conference.
October-Spent a week in Prince Edward Island with family.
Near Chelton Beach, PEI
-Canadian Thanksgiving!
-Flew to Vancouver to spend a week with my dad.
-Flew to California to spend a week being Thelma and Louise.
November- Flew home after not getting arrested in either The Bay Area OR South Lake Tahoe.
In between every line and subheading, there were days and days of shopping, helping, planning, preparing, celebrating, and laughing.
My family and I have had a really exciting and busy season, and now? Most of us are unwinding, before we wind up for Christmas.
And no, I am not neglecting the recent American election. But since I am Canadian, and there are more articulate Americans out there, I will leave it to them to share their thoughts. That, and while many people feel comfortable publicly commenting on the state of affairs in countries not their own, I do not.
The next few months will see another quilt project or two, and a trip to Toronto for the Lord of the Rings in concert, which I am SO excited to see and hear!!
Take care,
Jennifer
